Job Description and Responsibilities:

+ + Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials and components at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards

+ Performs visual inspections of uncoated and coated optics of various sizes

+ Creates detailed surface maps during process.

+ Perform precoat cleaning on large optics

+ Prepares and completes all necessary documentation for reporting acceptance/rejection of inspected and/or tested items

+ Participate in the investigation of failures and the formulation and implementation of action plans for all internal corrective actions and audit findings

+ Support technicians and engineers.

+ Works with customers during source inspection and audits

+ Able to read and understand optical component drawings

+ Ensure that non-conforming product is appropriately identified and segregated according to standard procedures, assist in the disposition of product

+ Support Customer on-site First Article Inspections and/or Source Inspections

+ Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.

+ Understands ISO/DIN/Mil-Specification Inspection and testing requirements and able to create Inspection and testing plans

+ Skilled at measuring and using test equipment as prescribed by job assignment

+ Capable of following instructions and applying processes and procedures to standard routine tasks

+ Must be able to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, including engineering drawings, charts, diagrams, and sketches


+ Performs setup, calibration of optical spectrophotometry and other optical instruments to test

+ optically coated witness samples.

+ Performs routine maintenance and first-level troubleshooting on equipment

+ Perform Durability testing on coated witness samples.

Education and Work Experience:

+ 4- 6 years’ experience inspecting, cleaning, and packaging large optics under various lighting conditions.

+ Experience in a clean room environment and understanding of clean room protocols

+ Ability to follow established job instructions and procedures with minimal supervision

+ Able to apply a systematic QA approach while using existing procedures to solve a range of technical issues

+ Proficient computer skills

+ US citizenship required
