Position Title: NPD Quality Engineer

Reports to: NewProduct Development Quality Manager

Location: Huntersville, NC

Job Summary:


* Primary responsibility for supporting the development of new products by providing Quality Engineering expertise to cross-functional teams throughout the New Product Development milestone process.

Job Duties:

* Participate in Design Reviews and Product Development Reviews

* Review Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) samples as required

* Maintain quality documentation related to new product launches

* Drive high quality, safe product development while working with cross-functional teams

* Support the New Product Development team with all measurement and testing requirements and data analysis

* Work closely with cross-functional personnel to identify and control potential quality issues in new products

* Assure customer satisfaction requirements are well defined and appropriate metrics implemented

* Provide monthly reports of customer satisfaction analyses

* Visit retail customer locations (as appropriate) to review product returns

* Coordinate the timely review of customer complaints, thorough analysis of root causes, and effective implementation of corrective actions

* Contribute to a monthly departmental Quality Report

* Provide expertise in statistical analytical techniques

* Promote continuous improvement

* Enforce quality, safety and compliance requirements

* Provide quality technical support (as requested) to various functional groups

* Provide fact-based quality analyses

* Work closely with Safety & Compliance Managers to assure continued compliance to regulatory standards and consumer safety needs

Minimum Qualifications:

* BS/BA degree (preferably in a technical/engineering field)

* Minimum of 3 years Quality Engineering experience

* Experience with the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

* Plant/Operations/Manufacturing experience

* Working knowledge of common molding materials, machinery, and processing

* Results driven

* Excels in a team environment

* Strong facilitation skills

* High level of initiative & follow-up

* Planning ability & organizing skills

* Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks

* Detail oriented

* Analytical, problem-solving skills

* Data based decision-maker

* Strong project management skills

* Excellent communication skills, able to comfortably interface at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in Durable Consumer Products desirable

* CQE preferred

* Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt a plus

* ISO/QS/TS experience a plus

* Human factors analysis experience a plus

* Metal Fabrication/Welding experience

* FDA experience a plus

* Electronics experience

* FMEA experience
