Bachelors Degree preferred The Step-DownUnit (SDU) is a 8-bed in-patient unit that provides hemodynamic monitoring and treatment of adult patients that includes heart failure, chest pain, arrhythmia, chronic ventilation , or other cardiovascular dysfunction. To work in the Cardiac Stepdown unit, our nurses need to have strong assessment and critical thinking skills, be proficient at cardiac rhythm interpretation, understand the relationship of multiple co-morbidities, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. The unit is comprised of 8 individual bed pods. Monitoring capability is available at each bedside. Patients with special requirements are placed strategically to provide optimal nursing care to meet individual needs. The unit remains operational 24 hours per 7 days per week. Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years clinical experience as an RN required in Med/Surg or Telemetry or Critical Care experience preferred. TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum) preferred or required within one year. BLS/ACLS/PALS/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations: 1. American Heart Association -BLS/ACLS/PALS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program 2. American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
