St. Davids North Austin Medical Center is part of St. Davids HealthCare , one of the largest health systems in Texas, which was recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014. The 378-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility is dedicated to the highest level of womens health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. Davids Womens Center of Texas . This is a 32 bed medical-surgical unit, focused on Pre/Post Operative patients. general surgery patients requiring care and/or monitoring treatment.. General medical patients in any capacity.
Under the general supervision of the unit's Director or designee the Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit. The Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shift, functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing unit. The Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when she/he is on duty. The Charge Nurse makes decision regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Standards, Human Resources Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
Knowledge & Skills
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols as required by both HCA and North Austin Medical Center. Establishes priorities and makes independent decisions of a complex nature.
Education and Experience
Required: Graduate of accredited nursing school; 6 months experience in Staff RN role
Preferred: 1 year experience in Staff RN role & charge experience
Certification and Licenses
Required: Texas RN license; BLS certification issued from the American Heart Association
