BioFire is looking for a Research Associate I to join our BioChemistry team! This is a full time non-exempt position. The position is part of a team that applies a variety of laboratory procedures including real-time PCR to help sustain the quality of BioFires FDA-approved products. This person works closely with research associates under general guidance from the supervisor. Daily responsibilities include general lab duties, design and performance of experiments, data collection and analysis. Accurate recording of all work done in accordance with the quality system will be required. The position will require familiarity with BioFires FilmArray products and problem solving skills. The Research Associate I will receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instruction on new assignments. This person reports to the Director or a Scientist.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities: This Research Associate I position will:
Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BFDXs Quality System.
Participate in general lab responsibilities, including contamination control and maintenance of an orderly laboratory space.
Routinely apply real-time PCR to collect data and will be responsible for basic analysis of data.
Require a high level of organizational and problem solving skills.
Perform diagnostic tests using PCR to assess the functionality and maintain the quality of different products produced by BioFire.
Work closely with other groups at BioFire to investigate root cause of anomalies reported during Quality Control or from Customer Service.
Work in collaboration with others, participates in research, development and improvements of BioFire products.
Contribute to project process within his/her scientific discipline including presentation of results to the Research and Development section.
Be responsible for assisting in documentation of results and conclusions within BioFires Quality system.
Ensure that laboratory notebook for assigned projects/experiments are maintained in accordance with the BFDX Employment Handbook.
Training and Education:
May require a Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent and demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Must demonstrate skill in basic laboratory technician practices (pipetting, materials handling, contamination control).

Must be able to safely lift and maneuver 40lbs.
