Job Description

We are looking for a Human-Centered Machine Learning Researcher that has a passion for both Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Machine Intelligence. We are a team in Ericsson Research in Santa Clara exploring how 5G will enable new user experiences, and how to make sense of real time data from connected systems, sensors and devices. You will be part of an international research organization where we work with the best partners and universities across US and Europe.

Digital Representation and Interaction Research Area

Digital Representation and Interaction is a research area at Ericsson Research. Our mission is to develop compression and processing technology for digital representations of reality such as Immersive Audio and Video. We also drive the digitalization of Ericsson and the Industry by developing enablers for Extended Reality (AR/VR/MR) such as media compression, object recognition, and content analytics. We research how these enablers can lead to new User Experiences.

Your responsibilities

* Develop research agenda for Human-Centred Machine Learning at Ericsson.

* Collaborate with internal stakeholders including internal and external customers to look at their existing processes with an HCI lens. Understand the problems these customers may be facing, and how it can be improved.

* Develop new prototypes and test them with user studies.

* Publish and publicise research through academic conferences, blogposts, tech talks.

* Participate in activities to protect our intellectual property and in the development of relevant standards.

Minimum Qualification

* Masters Degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or Human Factors with 2+ years relevant work experience.

* Experience and knowledge in research methodologies and experiment design

* Demonstrated prior experience in HCI

* Demonstrated prior experience in data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.

* Solid technical and programming skills

Preferred Qualification

* PhD in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or similar. Fresh graduates or ABD welcome.

* Domain expertise and research experience in Human-Centred Machine Learning

* Demonstrated publication record

* Demonstrated research experience in topics related to Human-Centred Machine Learning including but not limited to big data visualization, recommender systems, interactive information retrieval, intelligent user interfaces.
