The role of the Sales Application Engineer is to provide technical and commercial support, as well as developing quotations regarding the selection, price, design and delivery impact that will meet or exceed customer expectations in alignment with company procedures. This role will communicate and collaborate with internal sales group and staff, outside business partners, and suppliers while adhering to company policy and procedure.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Communicate with International Business Partners, overcoming language and cultural barriers, and providing timely and accurate responses
+ Review product specifications to determine technical requirements, including but not limited to: equipment selection, sizing, costing, research requests for duplicate equipment from serial number records, and develop current pricing
+ Provide documentation to Customers and Sales/Dealer Representatives in a timely manner pertaining to pricing, technical information, and preliminary design information
+ Provide commercial and technical support to Customers and Sales/Dealer Representatives in a timely manner
+ Correctly apply applicable industry standards
+ Review commercial terms of contracts
+ Communicate with suppliers for pricing, delivery, and technical information
+ Maintain quotation log and develop follow-up procedure to determine job status
+ Utilize pump system selection tools to provide quotations and technical support
+ Plan and assist with the training of Customers, Sales/Dealer Representatives, and internal colleagues
+ Host Sales, Dealer Representatives, and/or Customers for successful on-site product inspections, witness testing, and qualification visits
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives to achieve deliverables and maximize profit
+ Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with Cascade Pump Values and our internal standards (Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written, with attention to detail
+ Working knowledge with Microsoft Office™ (Excel®, Word®, Access®, Power Point®, Projects®, Outlook etc.), AutoCAD (or other drafting tools), and TBD
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical specifications, product technical literature, construction plans/drawings, commercial terms and conditions, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from internal or external customers or suppliers. Ability to write technical and commercial documents that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external customers.
+ Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (i.e. formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
+ Advanced understanding of pumps, auxiliary components, construction, hydraulics, and application of our products
+ Basic understanding and knowledge of the engineered manufacturing business, including but not limited to order execution process from entry to shipment.
+ Has high sense of urgency to meet or exceed expectations, and achieve daily commitments; time management, project organizational, and workload prioritization skills are essential as work load normally exceeds available time.
+ Knowledge of HI, AWWA, ANSI, ASME, ASCE, and/or other relevant pump standards

Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or business with equivalent experience in technical sales and manufacturing
+ Understanding of principles of hydraulics, pump design, and applications
+ Experience in industrial applications
+ Experience in international applications
+ Understanding of commercial issues including payment terms, shipping terms, and contract terms and conditions review
+ Previous experience in Engineering, Project Management and/or Sales in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
