**Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, FL** is looking for a **Senior Applications Engineer.** This position can work 100% remote or Hybrid at the Lake Mary, FL Headquarters.


The Sr. Energy Storage Applications Engineer will report to the Director of Applications Engineering and will be responsible for all technical work to deliver Battery Energy Storage Systems (ESS) proposals as part ofEnergy Storage business under Mitsubishi Power. This includes understanding of customer’s needs, energy profiles, and life cycle requirements, optimally selecting suppliers’ equipment, engineering and technical aspects of the design to ensure low life cycle cost, quality, reliability, constructability, and operation.Lead the development of standardized and/or project specific ESS for Utility Scale and C&I projects using Li-Ion, Inverter, and BOP technologies. Attend and present our solutions to customers. Support the creation of proposal documents, respond to RFIs, etc. Benchmark and evaluate new technologies or new offerings from suppliers, and integrate into our solutions.


Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

+ Responsible for the development, review, and technical oversight of all engineering and design of energy storage proposals

+ Review customer’s RFP documents

+ Develop and/or review System designs, Single Lines, Layouts, Containerization, Performance guarantees, Availability guarantees, etc.

+ Collaborate with the other team members in the preparation and coordination of proposals, RFIs, and other marketing efforts

+ Create and maintain technical specifications of our offerings, as well as specs. for our suppliers

+ Support the development of contracts and exhibits, with customers and with suppliers

+ Lead other team members and train/mentor other less experienced staff

+ Develop tools to enable speed and quality

+ Work with internal and external groups to drive down ESS cost, LCOE

+ Benchmark competitor’s products and offerings, and communicate to team

+ Maintain knowledge of applicable codes & standards and certifications in the Energy Storage industry

+ Expect 20% travel – can be optional International Travel.


+ Must have hands-on technical experience with Utility Scale Energy Storage Systems

+ Must have a sound understanding of the technical, performance, and integration of Li-Ion batteries as part of ESS

+ Must understand the use of central inverters, the integration with medium-voltage distribution systems and the required balance of plant hardware.

+ Must have a sound understanding of Li-Ion battery technology, degradation, packaging, and how it fits in grid connected storage projects

+ Must have hands-on experience creating ESS solutions and proposals to RFPs

+ Must have good experience dealing with customers and suppliers

+ Good understanding of commercial impacts of design decisions and supplier selections

+ Experience installing or trouble shooting ESS is a plus

+ Experience with Turnkey project proposals is a plus

+ Should be eager to learn, self-motivated and able to function effectively with minimum support

+ Must be sensitive and perform effectively in a multicultural environment


+ Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Electrical or Mechanical; and approximately 8 plus years of relevant experience

+ Technology/Product/Other knowledge and skills

+ Expertise to design multi-MW scale ESS

+ Expertise in at least one of Utility Scale, C&I, or PV+ES systems

+ Sound knowledge of DC and AC electrical design. Integrating Batteries with Inverters

+ Good understanding of Containerized systems, Skids, Controllers/SCADA, Transformers, Combiners

+ Good understanding of commercial contracts, guarantees, and how the design and proposal should address those issues

+ Good understanding of how projects are built, and resolving site technical issues

+ Good understanding of products available in market

+ Familiarity with competitor’s offerings

+ Familiar with codes and standards

+ Customer focused individual, capable of changing perspectives, problem solving, and adapting strategies

+ Good project management skills to lead projects to completion.

+ Ability to work closely with and influence cross-functional teams.

+ Highly competitive, self-starter that can work both individually and in a group setting.

+ Ability to effectively network and build beneficial relationships with customers and peers.

+ Communication and Language Skills:Ability to read and write detailed specifications, reports, procedure, manuals, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, partners, customers and other employees of the organization.

+ Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have sound knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software, PowerPoint and Word Processing software.
