Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent practical experience.

+ 4 years of experience in Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) or Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) techniques.

+ Experience working in a throughput analytical laboratory.

Preferred qualifications:

+ Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.

+ Experience working with high resolution-accurate mass GC/MS or LC/MS techniques for analysis of small molecules.

+ Familiar with analytical software suites such as Agilent’s Masshunter, Thermo Scientific’s XCalibur, and Compound Discoverer.

The Wearable Biocompatibility Development team is passionate about the products we build. We are responsible for the Wearable Safety of our products from ideation to end stages. We also manage hardware products across our Devices and Services organization from ramp to end stages.

As a Scientist, you will work in a lab to apply an understanding, knowledge, and experience in chromatography and high-resolution accurate mass spectrometry. You will do this to analyze known and unknown small molecules qualitatively and quantitatively while applying advanced data interpretation. In addition to solving complex unknown chemical analysis challenges and developing analytical methods, you will partner and collaborate with a cross-functional team of Chemists, Scientists, Toxicologists, and Material/Design Engineers.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.

+ Prepare analytical samples using multiple wet chemistry techniques.

+ Analyze unknown small molecules in a high throughput environment using GC/MS, LC/MS, and Liquid Chromatography with tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) systems.

+ Analyze and interpret data qualitatively and quantitatively by drawing conclusions from test results and recommending additional tests to further confirm test results.

+ Develop analytical methods, and maintain equipment to ensure data integrity and quality of lab work.

+ Communicate effectively on sample testing status, and troubleshoot all work-related issues to deliver results and meet deadlines and milestones.
