JOB PURPOSE


The Senior Director of Older Adult Programs is responsible for working with a cross-functional team to develop the vision, priorities and goals that establish Educational Alliance as a premiere destination for older adults across Downtown Manhattan. This position will oversee a department that includes our DFTA-funded Innovative Senior Center, the Sirovich Center for Balanced Living, Project ORE, 14Y Adult Studies, and volunteer and civic engagement initiatives across the community. Coordinating core aspects, policies, and best practices across this new Department, the Senior Director will ensure consistency of high-quality services, and deep connection, for older adults entering their “third chapter,” and beyond.


SCOPE OF INFLUENCE


Envisions and oversees Adult programs at the 14th street Y, including, but not limited to:


SIROVICH CENTER FOR BALANCED LIVING


+ Supervises Sirovich staff


+ Oversees program evaluation, fiscal compliance and DFTA compliance


+ Supports programmatic fundraising initiatives and development of strategic partnerships


+ Oversees development of stakeholder and volunteer engagement strategies, including Advisory Board and Weavers advocacy group


PROJECT ORE


+ Supervises Project ORE staff


+ Oversees program evaluation, fiscal compliance and grant funding compliance


+ Supports programmatic fundraising initiatives and development of strategic partnerships


+ Oversees development of volunteer engagement strategies


14Y ADULT STUDIES


+ Supervises Adult Studies staff


+ Foster vision, program goals, and oversee implementation of programming


+ Oversees program evaluation, fiscal compliance and grant funding compliance


+ Oversees development of volunteer engagement strategies


VOLUNTEER & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT


+ Supervise Volunteer Coordinator (and/or Avodah Intern)


+ Foster vision, initiative goals, and oversee implementation of initiatives


+ Oversees program evaluation, fiscal compliance and grant funding compliance


+ Oversees development of volunteer engagement strategies


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES


Supervision (40%)


+ Hire, coach and provide informal and annual formal performance evaluation for direct reports


+ Supervise the annual development of, and accountability to, programmatic logic models, outputs, outcomes and goals, as well as EA dashboards


+ Ensure core programs reflect industry best practices, and sound planning


+ Supervise the annual development of, and fiscal accountability to, programmatic budgets


+ Foster departmental collaboration, efficiencies and cross-pollination, as well as coordination of department-wide programs


+ Support integration of LABA into Adult programs


+ Ensure effective marketing, promotion and recruitment is coordinated for all Older Adult programs


Stakeholder Engagement and Development (30%)


+ Foster and maintain a comprehensive strategy for Older Adult programming to engage with key stakeholders in assessing community need, satisfaction within programming, and development of programmatic lay leaders.


+ Support Executive Team in coordination of fundraising and development for Older Adult programs


+ Serve as the face of Older Adults, building relationships with key community members, and routinely building relationships with clients in the core demographic


Volunteer & Civic Engagement (20%)


+ Support the development of an approach to volunteer engagement and civic action


+ Supervise Adult-oriented Community Catalyst work across various departments building relationships, tracking engagement, and fostering affinity groups and cohorts within the larger community


+ Support the development of a framework to evaluate volunteerism and civic engagement across the community


Additional responsibilities (10%)


+ Attend appropriate staff meetings


+ Other tasks identified with supervision


JOB REQUIREMENTS


Minimum Qualifications


+ MBA, MPA, Master’s of Social Work preferred


+ Attributed success in Older Adult Services, or Social Services


+ Outstanding written and oral communications skills


+ Recognition for coaching and developing professional stage Managers and Directors


+ Exhibited commitment to building relationships and maintaining strong networks, personal and professional


+ Success meeting fiscal goals upwards of $1 million


+ Highly organized with strong attention to details and an eye for developing efficient, internal systems and workflow


+ Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in order to meet deadlines and revenue goals


+ Team player with a passion for building relationships and fostering partnerships, both internal and external to 14Y
