CBRE is seeking a Sr. Program Manager ( Data Centers ) to help manage projects and programs for a large financial client in the Columbus, Ohio area.

The ideal candidate will have some experience with Data Center projects in a Financial Services or banking setting, although this is not required, it is preferred.


The purpose of this position is to provide program management from medium ($250K) US to large ($20MM+), complex, cross- functional projects and programs focused on data center facilities within the NAM portfolio of a confidential financial services client. The Program manager will lead a small but focused team to deliver projects within the client’s data center capital plan.

This position is located in the Columbus, Ohio area.

+ Oversees a Team of project managers,


Leads medium to large, complex cross-functional projects and programs end-to-end using a formal PMO process. Facilitates the development of a charter/initiation project brief and integrated timeline. Ensures that all functions remain on schedule and that issues get escalated and resolved and that the program is completed successfully. The program manager will lead a team, but there will also be an expectation that the program manager will carry their own project workload, typically within their core geography.

+ Facilitates meetings to review active and pending projects (project pipeline). Collaborates with core team to develop solutions and lead project team(s) through implementation and completion.

+ Manages internal and external relationships in support of program(s); will contract and manage vendors on the client’s behalf.

+ May provide consultation on complex medium to large scale projects that integrate into an organized program.

+ Creates, maintains & distributes routine project level and sector level reports, including status reports and updated Gantt charts.

+ May manage/oversee a team who are responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of projects and programs. Serves as the primary client contact and escalation point for any staffing, bandwidth or delivery issues.

+ Other duties may be assigned.


Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area.

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university (or equivalent technical and practical experience performing design or project management function for data centers preferred).

Minimum six years of related experience preferred. Prior Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge and experience within the data center sector delivering capital improvement projects experience is a preferred core requirement.


PgMP (Program Management Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) certifications preferred.


Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.

The ideal candidate will be able to create actions quickly and autonomously necessary to achieve client project goals.

Relationship building and partnership with client stakeholders within the data center portfolio will also be a key to success for this role.


Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.


Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.


Strong process skills, negotiating, decision-making and analytical skills are necessary. Demonstrated ability in project management processes, tools and techniques.

Ability to build and maintain effective professional/client relationships. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project.

PowerPoint skills are a core requirement. The ability to summarize complex information and create effective and ethically persuasive presentations to aid in client decision making is paramount.

The ability to manage and engage with direct reports. Increase engagement and help project managers throughout the team build and enhance stronger project management skills and learn best practices. Helping to guide and protect projects within the team management from project risks.


Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve general results. Responsible for setting department deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to co-workers, supervisor, department and/or line of business.
