Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Sr. Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO. The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting

Essential Functions:

* Provide Subject Matter Expertise to the Chief of Training and Exercises in developing and executing exercise and experiment scenarios; including, attending all planning conferences, assisting in the execution of exercises and experiments, after action compilation and tracking, and providing intelligence perspective on performance of C2 Center systems and future capabilities integration

* Perform requirements elicitation, definition, and functional allocation to hardware and software segments and components

* Perform trend analysis and product performance analysis of the mission systems, including hardware and software components and provide

* Determine gaps in capability and provide the NSDC director with analysis of the impacts and methods to mitigate them

* Document the requirements for future mission systems based on the operational needs as identified by the NSDC director

* Support of NSDC experiments, exercises and operations

* Use modeling and simulation analyses to support design validation and mission benefit analyses

* Prepare and brief technical presentations at informal and formal meetings

* Write technical white papers, memorandums and reports

* Perform research, studies and analyses in support of crew force progression requirements, and manpower assessments

* Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts to enhance mission operations

* Support the development of technological concepts which improve system performance and mission capabilities

* Develop, conduct and document military utility assessments of non-traditional data sensors and sources

* Support critical operations during standard and non-standard working hours

* Conduct system requirements reviews and create and/or update requirement specifications and technical documentation. Review system engineering documentation to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and complete

* Develop trade studies to guide selection of components to ensure requirement satisfaction

* Develop and assess course of action alternatives in project development/product delivery

* Develop and conduct test plans/procedures for software/hardware integration tests, be responsible for integration/execution, detailed data analysis, and preparation of software test reports

* Participate in engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure engineering rigor is appropriate for each project's current lifecycle phase

* Support the project management team by performing technical planning, including cost, risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems following a defined system design lifecycle process (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal)

* Perform risk analysis, including identifying and assessing project risks

* Develop and execute risk mitigation plans and management of risks on projects. Provide risk avoidance and risk mitigation strategies to project managers

* Travel when necessary to meet with customer

* Act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 6+ year of systems engineering experience OR

* Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline and 4+ years of systems engineering experience

* An active DoD Top Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

* The ability to obtain and maintain program access

* Previous Intergraded Joint Special Technical Operations planning experience

* Experience with requirements analysis and systems design within projects

* Experience writing specifications, design, ConOps, and Interface Control Documents

* Experience with C2 weapon systems and operations

* Previous experience supporting DoD/government customers

* Ability to write subsystem specification and requirements

* Hardware/software requirement verification/system validation experience

* Leadership experience with medium and small project implementations

* Experience working directly with customers onsite at their facility

* Leadership experience with medium and small project implementations

* Previous leadership experience

* 5+ years experience in the SSA or Space C2 community

* Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)

This position requires the candidate to already possess an active DoD Top Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance.
