The Simulation Specialist delivers highly realistic simulated clinical/operational scenarios including preparation and maintenance of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers, healthcare equipment, and related peripherals. The incumbent is responsible for collecting and inputting data for the simulation consortium to support process improvement, operations, strategy, cost reduction, and increased patient safety and satisfaction.

The Simulation Specialist reports to the Intermountain Simulation Business Manager of Operations and Technology. This position regularly interfaces and works with leaders and staff from all levels of the organization to coordinate, align, and deliver technology for simulation activities that support Intermountain Healthcare's Mission, Vision, and Values.

**Job Profile Summary**


The Simulation Specialist is a system level caregiver that delivers highly realistic simulated clinical and operational scenarios. The specialist prepares, operates, and maintains computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers, healthcare equipment, and other sophisticated technology to deliver simulation activities. The Specialist takes a consumer centric approach to planning and designing the technology to support simulation activities. They collaborate with leaders and staff from across the organization and will travel to multiple facilities to support simulation. Specialists are innovative caregivers who adapt simulation and healthcare equipment including technology to create realistic patient conditions and clinical scenarios.


The specialists support the logistics and scheduling of simulation projects throughout the organization. During the scenario planning and development portion of the project, they function as a team leader in conjunction with the simulation consultant, bringing their expertise to help guide the consumer to the final product. Specialist involvement in scenario development and implementation is crucial for meeting defined objectives aligned with the needs assessment and subsequent outcomes data collection plan. Specialists are responsible for scenario set up and break down, ensuring all necessary resources are in place to run simulation activities. This involves various types of technology including audio visual, mechanical and computer networking. During simulation activities, the specialist welcomes and orients caregivers to the simulation environment by explaining the equipment and how to work within the simulation space. They will operate the manikin and work with clients to provide a high-quality simulation experience for the participants. The Specialist plays a vital role in the data collection process by ensuring data integrity, timely data entry & accuracy of inputs. This position also maintains proficiency in existing and emerging technologies and education for staff, faculty and simulation program learners.


This position is guaranteed 8 hours a week, it can include up to 40 hours if needed. The schedule is highly variable and can include but is not limited to, two 4 hour shifts, one 8 hour or four 2 hours shifts. It does not have a designated location it works from and instead covers all areas. Start and end times can include early mornings and late evenings depending on the need.


Entry level pay is $20.82. Salary is based on experience.


**Minimum Qualifications**


+ Two years of experience in clinical or technical environments.


+ Experience working with and troubleshooting audio visual or clinical equipment.


+ Experience planning, participating in, and managing a variety of data visualization tools.


+ Experience working with basic computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.


+ Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues.


+ Ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical persons.


+ Ability to learn new software and hardware quickly and independently.


**Preferred Qualifications**


+ Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professional.


+ CHSOS Certification from Society for Simulation in Healthcare.


+ CITI Certification.


+ Clinical or technical background.


+ Experience working with databases (SQL) to develop analyses.


+ Experience with assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating training or learning programs.


+ Experience working in simulation.


**Physical Requirements:**


+ Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess patient needs.


+ Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.


+ Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, etc.
