Job summary

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) in S3, you get to deliver these capabilities through teams of talented engineers and leaders. You have an unprecedented opportunity to build net-new automation systems to launch S3's massive features and infrastructure in new geographies around the world. The underlying architecture to deliver at least 11 nine's of durability is complex and constantly changing. Every day, you will influence managers, engineers, and senior leadership within S3 and across AWS. You will be a key change agent to improve agility throughout the organization.

In your first few months with S3 Tachyon you’ll:

• Work on a platform to fully automate and accelerate S3 feature launches and region builds around the world.

• Work on the development of tools to detect dependencies, track the overall S3 architecture components, and launch these into a myriad of environments that exist today and what we are building tomorrow.

Key job responsibilities

Assist senior engineers in the design and development of large-scale, multi-tiered, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services. Contribute to software documentation. Build software components architected by senior engineers. Triage, debug, and fix bugs in day-to-day operations. Report on the status of projects and systems using available metrics.

+ Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

+ 1+ years of experience in software development


• A good engineer will demonstrate that they can proactively and continually improve their level of knowledge about Amazon’s business and relevant technologies, and use this knowledge to deliver high quality, accurate software deliverables.

• Clear, professional communication skills. Able to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions.

• Experience developing in a Linux environment

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $110,500 - $160,000 yr.; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
