About the General Motors Vehicle Validation Team:

The Vehicle Engineering Validation team tests the technology enabling a new generation of connected vehicles. This technology is a key enabler to things like smarter car sharing programs, more advanced active safety and even autonomous driving. These capabilities exist through the largest implementation of 4G LTE in the automotive industry and a vehicle wired to collect thousands of data elements. Our environment requires an architecture that can support over 900,000 vehicle transactions per hour with sub-second response times. 4G LTE capability has been described as an untapped, under-appreciated opportunity valued at $350M in improved 2018 profits. The innovation our teams are driving is game changing to the consumer, to the industry and to the company.

About the Role:

The Senior SDET will write Java for multiple test automation projects in a variety of areas; these could include REST and SOAP APIs, websites, iOS and Android apps, databases, and vehicle infotainment systems. Good communication skills are required; the SDET will prepare and deliver presentations to senior management and will participate in automation prioritization and planning meetings with other teams. The role also includes teaching, coaching, and training less experienced team members in test automation, architecture, and coding best practices.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Chemistry

* Minimum of five years of experience programming with Java or similar language

* Minimum of five years of experience writing test automation code

* Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

* Experience using Specification by Example

* Experience programming Cucumber, SpecFlow, or Fitnesse

* Experience programming Webdriver, Appium, SOAP, or REST APIs

* Experience with SQL

* Experience testing Android and iOS apps

* Experience with Web debugging tools such as Firebug and Firepath

* Experience with web development technologies including HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript, and Angular

* Good understanding of best practices for architecture, clean code, and design patterns

* Ability to teach, coach, and lead other team members in programming and test automation best practices
