Job summary


FSx for NetApp ONTAP is a brand new service, launched at AWS Storage Day 2021, that brings the features, performance, and APIs of NetApp's ONTAP file system to AWS as a fully-managed service. Customers are already excited about the service, but we are just getting started!


We are looking for a Software Development Manager to play a leadership role on this new and growing service and be the site leader for filesystems in Atlanta. Come join the Amazon Web Services engineering team in our Midtown Manhattan location as we revolutionize the world of cloud storage!

AWS FSx puts a high value on work-life balance. Many days, our team is located in the Boston, NYC, or Atlanta offices, but we’re also flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 4pm. About half of us come in earlier and the other half of us stay later.

Key job responsibilities


* Manage a team of engineers in delivering key customer goals


* Maintain a high operations and quality bar for our software and team


* Hire talented, passionate individuals to help us grow


* Mentor, coach, grow, and promote our awesome engineers


* Drive technical and organizational strategy, partnering with PMs and senior leadership


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


+ 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams


+ Experience partnering with product OR program management teams


+ 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers


+ 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems


+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field


+ 7+ years professional experience in commercial or web-scale system software development and delivery


+ 3+ years of experience building, leading, managing and mentoring high-performance engineering teams


+ Understanding of a modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Python


+ Experience designing, building and delivering high quality software on time


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Exposure to any of the following: - Scalable computing systems, software architecture, data structures and algorithms


+ Agile/SCRUM enterprise-scale software development


+ Storage software, storage protocols and high-performance mapping constructs


+ Network protocols like TCP/IP, UDP, HTTPS, DHCP and DNS


+ Building secure software and security algorithms


+ Building and operating scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems


+ Passion for technical leadership and mentoring


+ Effective verbal and written communication skills


+ Effective analytical skills, with problem solving abilities in the face of ambiguity


+ Ability to collaborate with a talented, diverse team
