Software System Engineer Bluetooth Low Energy Modules

The Connectivity Products and Features group is hiring talented engineers to develop blue tooth low energy systems that enable consumer device connectivity to in-vehicle on-board electronic modules. The successful candidate will be working with a design team to define software requirements for new features, analyze and resolve software failures, and be responsible to meet Fords quality, on time, and maintaining cost targets.


  • Provide technical leadership and project management between Ford and the full service supplier responsible for software development and validation.

  • Work closely with feature engineers in the development and refinement of feature definitions and requirements for specifications.

  • Review specifications and requirements for Bluetooth Low Energy based features and translate them into BLE based software system requirements.

  • Resolve issues and/or ambiguities found in specifications during the vehicle development cycle.

  • Perform software design review with Suppliers, complete quality analysis, ensure software design follows ASPICE, Functional Safety requirements and other industry standards.

  • Support product launch.

  • Work closely with the broader BLE subsystem team, who as a whole are responsible for hardware, software, and verification of the BLE subsystem.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related degree

  • 2+ years of experience with embedded module design

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience with low energy Bluetooth and knowledge of BLE SIG

  • Experience with automotive embedded module software functionality, knowledge of resolution of cloud/app/vehicle issues

  • Knowledge of automotive networking concepts (CAN/LIN, Diagnostics) and Ethernet protocols (TCP\IP)

  • Familiarity with Cellular modems, phone apps, and associated technologies (WiFi, Bluetooth, BLE, NFC)

  • Experience with CANalyer, CAN tools, Bluetooth sniffer, and other signal analysis tools

  • Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, temperature chambers, time-domain reflectometers, and precision power meters

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Sharepoint products; Teamcenter VSEM, JIRA, and Github experience

  • Motivated and self-starter

  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and engineering professionals including globally distributed teams; ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience; work with all levels of management and diverse work groups
