MITRE is dedicated to solving problems that provide safety, security, and economic prosperity for all individuals and American businesses. MITRE is seeking a specialized expert, leader and innovator that possess expertise in Space Situational Awareness and Space Traffic Management (SSA/STM) to support work within the Treasury, Economics, and Commerce Division. Job Responsibilities:


The ideal candidate will partner with our sponsors, other government agencies, commercial entities, and non-profits to envision, plan, recommend and implement innovative solutions to create the next generation system to ensure the safety and viability of satellites orbiting the earth. The effort will define information creation, processing, and sharing among government and commercial entities in support of a future vision for a transformed SSA/STM ecosystem.


The ideal candidate will apply team leadership, customer relationship, program management, systems engineering, acquisition, and system transformation skills, along with specialized knowledge of SSA/STM engineering and operations to lead our work with a government sponsor.


Basic Qualifications:


+ Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.


+ Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.


Required Qualifications:


+ 8+ years of experience in space situational awareness and space traffic management and related disciplines


+ 8+ years experience leading large-scale, transformational programs in a multi-vendor environment


+ 8+ years experience leading projects through a systems engineering life cycle


+ 5+ years experience in cloud systems and architecture


+ Strong ability to build relationships with, inform and guide executive and senior leadership


+ Ability to communicate and synthesize complex requirements that enable and inform policy, organizational and technical decision making


+ Ability to identify, form and support both domestic and international partnerships


+ Systems engineering experience in the development of requirements for verification and validation


+ Experience in performing independent assessments to inform strategic decision making


+ Ability to manage and lead tasks to meet expected customer and sponsor outcomes
