The Speech-Language Therapist is responsible to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients that require rehabilitation services in addition to conducting audiometric screenings of residents upon request and making recommendations for further audiology service.
Position Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
Make recommendations for a speech-language therapy treatment plans, if necessary, and carrying out treatments as planned.
Creates and maintains appropriate records on a timely basis, including evaluations, weekly progress notes, recertification and discharge documentation.
Repeat evaluations on a regular basis to measure progress according to professional guidelines.
Communicates with patient and family and provides counseling when appropriate.
Collaborate with all disciplines to provide best patient centered treatment and care.
Adherence to scheduled hours and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
Keep current with professional literature to maintain and update professional skills.
Compliance with confidentiality, HIPPA and Federal Residents Rights
Perform all other duties assigned by Director of Rehabilitation
Masters Degree from an accredited Speech Therapist college or university.
Certified or certification eligible by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
Must have a valid professional license and registration for state of NY
Experience with long-term care and/or geriatric care is preferred.
A minimum of two years of experience working in the speech pathology field preferred.
Exceptional patient service skills and ability to demonstrate clinical excellence
Manual dexterity to calibrate equipment
Above-average communication, language, and interpersonal skills. Unimpaired or corrected hearing/listening skills.
Skill in preparing written patient evaluations.
Skill communicating verbally and in writing with facility and family members so that all parties understand the program and the degree of progress being made.
