Sr. Building Engineer Critical Environments

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Building Engineer to join our team. Performs and/or directs various preventive maintenance and repairs. This includes hands-on work to complete the necessary work within CBRE standards and guidelines. Must be a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and critical environment/data center experience. The individual must have the ability to create SOP's and MOP's and have a strong background with Electrical systems, with a thorough knowledge of electrical distribution, emergency power, UPS power and critical cooling. Hours are from 8AM to 5PM, Monday thru Friday.

Job Description:

1. Operates, maintains and repairs building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems associated with the operation of a commercial property that includes both office and critical environments (data center).

2. Responsible for self-directed scheduling of daily workload and follow-up of that work to ensure its completion, quality control, etc.

3. Uses the company's work order system to schedule and document all maintenance and repairs.

4. Ability to analyze critical work tasks and document a step-by-step sequence of actions to minimize risk during maintenance or repair work (Method of Procedure).

5. Manage vendors performing maintenance and repair on infrastructure systems including critical systems.

6. Performs other work to include hands-on repair and maintenance work on building automation systems, door & gates systems, building envelope systems, grounds, interior finish systems, lighting systems, and various other R&M tasks associated with operation of a commercial property.

7. Responsible for the coordination and communication with manager and associated staff prior to repairs, maintenance or system shutdowns which could affect operations and/or the occupants of the Premises.

8. Provides technical assistance, training, and support in advanced building operations, troubleshooting, and hands-on repair guidance in support of team's members.

9. Maintains adequate supplies and tools and orders necessary materials to complete all tasks.

10. Document daily building rounds and be able to analyze data to determine routine maintenance or repair needs.

11. Respond effectively to all emergencies.

12. Must be able to lift 50lbs., climb ladders and work on roof tops.

13. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers



High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of four years of related experience and/or trade school training.


Universal CFC certification is preferred. Additional certification desirable for one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems.


Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.

Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists. Requires intermediate analytical skills.


Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of up to 50 lbs..

Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
