+ Provide technical advice and support to program planning activities with the objective of achieving near-term program milestones, including Initial Investment Decision (IID) and Final Investment Decision (FID), and to assist in the launch of program system developments in fulfillment of the program’s baseline following FID.

+ Responsibilities include Human Factors Engineering tasks, assessments, analyses, acquisition documentation support, HF requirements and specifications, SIR input, vendor HF oversight, CHI/GUI development, HF testing strategies, Integrated Human Factors Plan

+ other HF-related duties as assigned.


+ Master's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or behavioral or related science or an advanced degree in Industrial or System Engineering with course work in Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, or related and a minimum of 10 years’ total experience of increasing responsibilities and specialized experience in human factors.

+ Aviation experience is preferred.

+ Must be experienced in techniques for performing human factors engineering-related tasks from two or more of the following: task analysis, human factors engineering studies/analysis, human-system/component interfaces; function/motion of operation, design methodologies, structured analysis, equipment design/redesign criteria; equipment use and environment, automation principles for allocation of function; modeling techniques, supportability and logistics support, functional analysis, safety engineering, environmental engineering, usability studies, and interactions integrated product or multi-discipline design teams.

+ Must have specific practical experience in Computer-Human Interface (CHI) /Graphical User Interface (GUI) design and prototyping (using software tools such Axure, ForeUI etc.), designing remote/face-to-face surveys, collecting and analyzing data and developing HF Plans, user studies, system, CHI and GUI requirements and specifications for the FAA.

+ Must have worked in environments providing extensive interaction with system/equipment designers, users, managers, programmers, analysts, logisticians, Air Traffic Controllers, ATC System technicians, and trainers to ensure a complete approach in providing comprehensive engineering solutions for the FAA National Airspace Systems.

+ Excellent writing skills, a strong foundation in HF principles and research methodology is required. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Statistical knowledge preferred.

+ Familiarity with Acquisition Management System (AMS) preferred.

+ Must be willing to travel up to 25% of time.
