**This Opportunity**


WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Sr. Lead Water Resources Engineer** for our **Raleigh** office. Be involved in projects with our Water Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead our dynamic and highly talented multi-disciplinary team supporting municipal water / wastewater projects including pump stations, storage and treatment facilites, collection and conveyance systems and rehabilitation, and water resources projects.


Provides high level technical assistance and guidance multi-site/phase water, wastewater and water resources engineering work processes, due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, and environmental permitting projects. Tasks may include the design and development of processes, infrastructure, and operating strategies related to water supply, drinking water treatment, transmission, distribution, pumping, and wastewater conveyance and treatment. Substantiates reports and documentation to advise on field conditions, movement, and outcome of overall risks to ecological and human health and respond to regulatory drivers. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.


**Your Impact**


+ Provide oversight with data collection efforts for collecting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from samples of water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.


+ Lead project teams in the preparation of technical reports and designs for municipal and transportation related stormwater and water resources projects.


+ Participate in business development activities including marketing, client engagement, developing scopes of work, and budgeting.


+ Ensure that production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.


+ Capable of serving as a water resources Subject Matter Expert for multi-disciplinary project teams.


+ Perform high-level professional water resources engineering work and conducts more complex/comprehensive investigations and inspections relating to water supply/quality/management, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, canal development, river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, waste disposal, and pollution control and treatment activities to avert the contamination and degradation of water resources and determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.


+ Ensure and validate that the planning and management of available water supply is adequately leveraged, treated, improved upon and remains safe for various end uses – recreationally, commercially, and/or industrially.


+ Develop advanced technologies, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, and operating strategies to reduce the volume and toxicity of pollutants, account for the negative environmental impact of industrial facilities, power plants, and transportation vehicles/systems, and allow for greater use of water resources.


+ Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients.


+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.


**Who You Are**


**Required Qualifications**


+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.


+ 10+ years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering.


+ Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).


+ Highly proficient with water resources engineering principles, practices, and methods and their application to environmental and project work-related issues.


+ Highly proficient with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs.


+ Strong knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.


+ Lead project teams in the preparation of technical reports and designs for municipal and transportation related stormwater and water resources projects..


+ Participate in business development activities including marketing, client engagement, developing scopes of work, and budgeting.


+ Ensure that production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.


+ Capable of serving as a water resources Subject Matter Expert for multi-disciplinary project teams.


+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.


**Preferred Qualifications**


+ At least 10 years of project management experience delivering water resources infrastructure projects for municipalities.


+ Ability to contribute and interact well with others as well as develop and manage high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals.


+ Proven ability to lead the delivery of complex stormwater and water resources design projects.


+ Prior experience with municipal stormwater or NCDOT hydraulic design a plus.


+ Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement are highly desirable.


+ Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.


+ Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
