You are a problem solver. Complex projects or unexpected challenges are just opportunities to bring your considerable abilities to use. Whether working independently or with a trusted team, you are always ready to tackle a project and work hard to find solutions.

Your talent is needed across a wide variety of industries. As a Sr. Packaging Engineer, you have a wide array of career choices, but are motivated by the opportunity to work in a company that supports innovation, professional development, and a purposeful mission.

The packaging engineering team works in conjunction with various groups to bridge the gap between product, production, and customer needs. You will interact with a variety of Baxter devices (from disposables to hardware to tissue and bone repair technology), collaborate with cross-functional teams around the world, and travel to various manufacturing locations to develop packaging solutions and ensure the production of these life-saving products.

Your role will consist of performing sustaining engineering activities on current product packaging and packaging processes with priorities based on quality and compliance, continuity of supply, and cost savings initiatives. In addition, you will provide package design, development, and verification testing activities for new products and assist the manufacturing plants in the qualification of any new packaging processes. Due to the breadth of Baxter’s product portfolio, this results in the exciting opportunity to be exposed to several types of packaging materials and processes including flexible and rigid films, HDPE and foil pouches, corrugated design and protective packaging, thermoforming, flow-wrap, form/fill/seal, printing technologies and other related packaging processes.

Measurement of success is determined through implementing projects with speed and quality, identifying packaging cost savings targets, meeting key program landmarks, and solving technical issues.

Your team

We are a team of inquisitive individuals who embrace a collaborative environment to take on sophisticated challenges that meet the needs of our patients. We often need to change directions and respond to issues to avoid disruptions in our fast-paced manufacturing environment. Together, we build and maintain a positive work environment.

We support innovation and out-of-the-box thinking balanced with collaboration across functions and other teams. Our leadership understands the need for continuous education and provides opportunities for further development.

As a Sr. Packaging Engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead by example, and enjoy mentoring and learning from others. Here, you are trusted to manage your own time and are given opportunities to grow your career as you wish.

The Round Lake packaging team works together in an office environment where you will have your own workspace. This allows the team to use each other’s various strengths and knowledge to collaborate and help develop the best solutions.
