**Job Description:**

CDM Smith has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager in our new office in Wilmington, North Carolina. In this position, you will manage planning and design projects, serve as a leader of a talented pool of technical staff on project assignments, recruit and mentor staff, and work with local sales staff on business development strategies for existing and new clients across eastern North Carolina. CDM Smith has provided legendary client service to the central and western North Carolina markets from our Raleigh and Charlotte offices for over 30 years and is expanding our level of service to our existing and growing client base in eastern North Carolina from our Wilmington office. CDM Smith provides our clients with solutions through modeling, master planning studies, design, and construction administration services of water and wastewater facilities. As a member of this team, you would contribute to our firms' mission by:

• Managing master planning, design, and construction administration for water and wastewater projects

• Assisting in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning

• Collaborating with sales staff to create proposals in response to client requests for proposals (RFPs)

• Serving as a leader of project teams and mentoring junior staff, including the coordination and reviewing of project assignments

• Working with leadership to identify, recruit, and interview new hires candidates

• Being active in the water/wastewater industry, keeping abreast of emerging technologies, research/development opportunities, and conference/committee participation in professional societies

• Effectively working with key technical specialists, project team members, and delivery managers

• Assisting with preparation of design drawings and specifications

• Preparing, monitoring, and managing project budgets and schedules while managing the firm’s risk

• Providing planning and program analysis work including preparation of technical documents/reports

• Reviewing draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices

• Interfacing with clients, project stakeholders, and firm management to facilitate delivery of projects, provide status updates, and respond to questions as necessary

**Minimum Qualifications:**

• Bachelor's Degree

• 13 years of related experience

• Current Project Manager certification (either PMP, CCM or DBIA) or ability to receive within 12 months of start date

• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering

• Professional engineering (PE) license (NC preferred or the ability to obtain within one year)

• Previous experience and demonstrated performance in the planning and design of water/wastewater projects in Eastern North Carolina

• Strong communication skills with internal and external clients

• Experience as a leader, mentor, and problem solver with a determination for excellence

• Project management experience in eastern North Carolina

• Alternative project delivery experience

• Master's degree
