Job Description



The Chicago Steakhouse Hostperson will greet guests with a prompt, courteous and cheerful manner and bids farewell upon departure. Insure a smooth operation and high level of service from all Gold Strike Casino Resort employees. Must follow all Gold Strike and Departmental policies and procedures.


  • Displays a friendly hospitable greeting when seating guests.
  • Seats and present guest with clean menus.
  • Seats all stations equitably assuring equal distribution of parties.
  • Keeps reception area clean and neat.
  • Know locations of all gold strike casino outlets and services.
  • Answers phone properly and promptly giving name of restaurant and identifying self.
  • Familiar with menu items and daily specials.
  • Checks that tables are properly set, side stations kept clean, and all side work is properly and completely done.
  • Knows and understands all comp and coupon policies and keep comp records in order.
  • Handles initial guest complaints and inform manager on duty, immediately.
  • Assures a smooth transition at shift change remaining on duty until relief is present.
  • Collects and inspects all menus, discarding all worn ones and then replacing them.
  • Circulates stations making sure guests are getting proper service and that all employees are in stations and doing their jobs.
  • Observes tables and keeps track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
  • Takes guest information both at the entrance and on departure.

High School Diploma or equivalent and 0 to 1 year in a fast paced, high volume restaurant operations experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently standing, walking, listening, and speaking.
  • Frequently walking distances of 10 to 30 ft., between various areas of restaurant. Frequently walking distances up to 500 ft.
  • Frequently using wrist motion, dexterity, and eye-hand coordination, reaching, twisting and balancing.
  • Occasionally carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 200 lbs.


Work performed in climate-controlled environment with occasional hot and cold temperature changes. Employee will be required to stand on concrete floors, tiles/mats and walk on uneven or wet surfaces. Employee may be exposed to secondhand smoke and kitchen odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Regular scheduled hours. Must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal business hours.
