Survey Field Assistant

Palmer,AK

We are searching for an experienced Survey Field Assistant at our Palmer HQ facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

SUMMARY OF POSITION'S ROLE

Assist Land Surveyor and/or Party Chief in staking field surveys for construction and clearing.

SPECIFIC TASK DESCRIPTION

Setting up and taking down of Survey instruments including GPS base station and radio repeater, Robotic Total Stations and back sights.

Carry and utilize lath bag containing stakes, cutting and digging tools, hammers, tape, flagging, ect., for use in marking routes for clearing and construction.

Assist maintaining inventory of supplies in survey vehicles to assure adequate stocks of stakes, flagging, ect..

Participate in office preparation of upcoming survey work including locating appropriate files, documents and related materials. Some CAD experience and willingness to learn is preferred.

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Some surveying experience is preferred but not required.

RLS Land Base Manager, Survey Party Chief

JOB SCOPE:

Assisting in preparation and execution of field surveys.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The position requires a good driving record and high level of situational awareness. Work is frequently in areas of high traffic, inclement weather conditions, poisonous or noxious plants, biting or stinging insects and disgruntled landowners. Work may take place in steep, uneven and broken ground and dense brush. Good physical condition and attitude is required.
