The Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) provides industry-leading genetic sciences tools and solutions to advance scientific discovery, enable customers in applied markets and improve global health outcomes. Specifically, GSD workflows enable biomarker discovery and analysis, predictive genomics, reproductive health solutions, pathogen detection, disease-specific solutions, forensics and human identification.
Additionally, GSD’s Clinical Vertical, Genetic Testing Solutions (GTS), redefines molecular testing solutions, enabling customers to maintain surveillance testing on large populations in order to improve health outcomes globally.
**How will you make an impact?**
The Technical Applications Scientist is responsible for providing remote pre and post sales technical support of Thermo Fisher Scientific qPCR and/or genetic analysis products to customers and field personnel, as well as relaying customer feedback to the organization. Inquiries may be received via telephone, email or web chat.
**What will you do?**
+ Support customers on technical issues by utilizing all available resources and raise issues or problems when warranted
+ Participate in frequent training on products and continuing education on new applications and technologies to remain at the cutting edge of scientific knowledge.
+ Accurately record pertinent information from customer contacts in Customer Relationship Management system.
+ Recommend changes to knowledge databases, website, and other company-managed databases of technical information
+ Present technical updates to colleagues and contribute to department meetings
+ Participate in additional special team or individual project
+ Some travel may be required for the position
**How will you get here?**
Minimum Qualifications: B.S., B.A. or M.S. in life sciences or chemistry or a similar field.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD or a PhD. with post-doctoral experience.
+ 3+ years of hands-on experience with quantitative/real-time PCR techniques, including sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis is required
+ Experience with assay and instrument troubleshooting
+ Requires in depth knowledge of real-time instruments, software, kits and services
+ Partner effectively with the team to tackle problems, find solutions, and arrive at a consensus
+ Prior experience in customer service is a plus
