Description of Work Unit


The Colorado State University Libraries is a technologically sophisticated environment with extensive electronic resources collections and services primarily located in Morgan Library. CSU is making a strong strategic investment to ensure that our academic libraries meet the needs of the institution, now and into the future. A strong collaboration exists and is burgeoning with the Vice President for Research.


Colorado State University was established as the land-grant institution of the State of Colorado in 1870. Student enrollment is more than 28,000, and the University employs 7,000 faculty and staff. Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, a dynamic community with a population of approximately 161,000, and situated 65 miles north of Denver, at the western edge of the Great Plains and at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Averaging 300 days of sunshine per year, with low humidity and moderate winters, Fort Collins is ideally located for a variety of recreational, cultural, and family activities. Position Summary


POSITION:


Colorado State University Libraries will establish and maintain a pool of librarians from which future appointments to temporary positions may be made. Appointments may be part-time or full-time, depending on the nature of the position and the duties assigned. This temporary librarian pool is anticipated to remain continuously active through May 17, 2021.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Various assignments may include:


• Research assistance, including virtual, text, and/or chat reference support.


• Library instruction for classes and groups.


• Collection management analysis or activities in support of specific academic disciplines.


• Access service support, including circulation and shelving projects.


• Cataloging and metadata creation.


• Digitization and archival processing.


• Special projects.


RANK:


Rank is at the Instructor (faculty) level. Faculty may select from several insurance options for medical, life, dental, and personal disability insurance, as well as retirement plans. Full-time faculty earn 24 days of vacation and 15 days of sick leave annually. Optional deferred compensation.

Required Job Qualifications


Graduate degree in library science or equivalent professional experience gained in fulfilling the above responsibilities; excellent oral and written skills; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; and the ability to work in a team environment.
