Job Description

The Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking to hire a*Trades Worker*to perform various tasks in a variety of trades to ensure Residential Homes are in compliance with standards of safety. Perform routine trade related maintenance and repair. *_Duties and Responsibilities:_*(The dutiesand responsibilities stated are general summary and not all inclusive.) * Service and/or replace minor plumbing fixtures such as faucets, washers, flushometers, valves, etc. * Conduct routine repairs to electrically powered equipment and appliances such as motors, pumps, lamps, fans, etc. * Perform preventive maintenance and make repairs to heating, ventilation, refrigerating and air conditioning equipment. * Adjust heating and air conditioning controls to appropriate temperatures. * Maintain machinery, equipment and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing, oiling, etc. to ensure the equipment is kept in optimum working order. * Assist in the construction of tables, wooden barricades, window screens, etc. and performs other minor carpentry work using hand and power tools such as drills and saws. * Assist tradesman and/or journeymen with related duties such as holding in place and furnishing tools and materials. * Erect and dismantle wall partitions, scaffolding and/or rigging used to gain access to high places. * Install glass in windows and doors; assists in installing and performing routine repairs to floor coverings such as tiles, linoleum, and carpets. * Requisition supplies and maintain records. *_Preferred Qualifications_**:* * Knowledge of carpentry tools and techniques and some fundamentals of various trades. * Skilled and competent operating handheld power tools, tools and equipment used with various trades. * Ability to understand and follow written and/or oral work instructions. *_Agency Requirements:_* * Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. * Must possess current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License. *_Please Note:_ * * This position is designated as an "EMERGENCY" position in the Department of Developmental Services Emergency Plan.*This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, selected candidate be required to report to work. * * This position is in a program that operates 24-hour/7 days a week. Candidates must be flexible in their work schedule. The Department requires employees in this position to be able to perform*_Mandatory Overtime_*when circumstances dictate the need. *_Schedule Information:_* Full-time – 40 hour weekly position.
