Responsible for the operation and overall safety of tipping floor activities.
Control truck traffic inside tipping floor area. Work in conjunction with the loader operator to communicate with drivers.
Inspect all roll-off containers from hospitals and special waste deliveries.
Complete County documentation of all special waste deliveries.
Cross train to be able to fill in and operate the tipping floor loader operator position.
Observe loads tipped to the floor; segregate prohibited waste, and inform the County's authorized representative and Famility Manager of any hazardous waste.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory procedures.
High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in the opration of heavy industrial machinery and demonstrated mechanical aptitude. Formal technical or apprentice training is desirable or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Required to be medically certified to don and wear a negative pressure respirator in accordance with OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.13.
Vision abilities require close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. Work environment includes outside weather conditions and extreme heat. Must guard against risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually load.
