The Unit Secretary is an essential member of the patient care team who facilitates an organized and smooth work flow by providing clerical support and indirect patient care services. They will be responsible for maintaining patient charts, accurately transcribing orders and inputting them into the computer, and promptly preparing and releasing authorized patient records in accordance with laws and regulations that protect patient confidentiality. They will courteously and promptly greet patients being admitted to the unit, interview patients, their relatives or representatives for personal, financial and insurance data via telephone or in person, and securing appropriate signatures on treatment/admission consents and insurance release forms.
+ High school diploma or equivalent required
+ Notary Public Certification required within 6 months of hire
+ 1 year previous medical office experience preferred
+ Previous customer service experience required

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
