Fort Irwin, CA

Fort Irwin National Training Center is a major training area for the United States Military and is a census-designated place located in the Mojave Desert in northern San Bernardino County, California. Fort Irwin is at an average elevation of 2,454 feet. It is located 37 miles northeast of Barstow, in the Calico Mountains.

The Weed Army Community Hospital (WACH) mission is to provide state of the art medical care to ensure patients are cared for medically and cared about personally and to ensure a medically ready force, prepared to accomplish their mission.

We are looking for an experienced Ultrasound Technologist to provide services to the Radiology Department at Weed Army Community Hospital at Fort Irwin.

Responsibilities:
Receive patients, explain methods of procedures, position patients and obtain required images.
Notify Radiologist of significant Scanns requiring their immediate attention.
Perform operator maintenance on the ultrasound equipment as required.
Provide expert information of all ultrasound imaging and interpretation.
Use scanner to properly position probes and other equipment, fix point of entry, determine depth and direction of penetration and location within the body.
Independently carry out examinations in accordance with the requesting physicians identified or anticipated needs.
Assist the Radiologist with invasive ultrasound guided procedures including mammotome biopsies, cyst aspirations and fine needle biopsies.
May communicate in person or by telephone, findings, and recommendations through image and summary sheet.
Respect and maintain the basic rights of Patients, demonstrating concern for personal dignity and human relationships.
Participate in all training and education prior to providing services, in quarterly and annual training as directed.
Complete all documentation of care provided in the computer programs.

Qualifications:
Completion of at least two years of training in an accredited Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Program and be certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
Minimum of four years of experience providing ultrasound technologist services for abdomen, breast, fetal, echocardiography, neurosonology , and obstetrics and gynecology
Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted. BLS recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times while performing services
Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough and enunciate with sufficient clarity to effectively communicate with patients and other health care providers
Knowledge of medical privacy and confidentiality (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act [HIPAA])
Sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity to relate to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds
Working knowledge of computer applications/software to include Microsoft Office programs, MS Outlook (e-mail), and internet familiarity
Meet Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements
Shift will be 4/10s Thursday - Sunday.
