VP, Business Optimization

This new leadership position will be responsible for partnering with Wiley business units and shared services to develop and execute near and long-term strategies for operational excellence. The role involves a combination of corporate-wide program management and large-scale process re-engineering. It is envisioned that this small team will facilitate and drive business transformation in the near-term and guide and enable continuous operational improvement for the long term.

The Scope

* Re-engineer end-to-end workflows (streamline, standardize and automate)

* Invest in critical skills and functional capabilities, including technology

* Redesign the operating models and organization structure

The Role

* Provide expert oversight to business process optimization initiatives across Wiley (including prioritization and management of interdependencies)

* Lead and support the design and execution of complex business optimization initiatives. This includes detailed program planning and effective governance to enable prioritized resource allocation across complex, interdependent programs.

* Leverage industry standard re-engineering principles, methodologies and tools to drive the development of business optimization plans and process reengineering, including the application of Lean Six Sigma techniques

* Identify and pursue opportunities to optimize processes and resource requirements through use of Robotics Process Automation and AI

* Build engagement and trust with senior management and process owners

* Build and facilitate program governance; manage change control; ensure program benefits are met while managing risks.

* Manage a matrixed team of professionals, including process re-engineering experts

Qualifications

* 10-15 years of professional experience with a top tier management consulting firm or equivalent business transformation experience in relevant industries

* Hands-on experience in opportunity analysis, business case development, implementation and change management. Strong analytical capabilities, including cost analysis and internal/external benchmarking.

* 5+ years of project/program management experience, including technology deployment

* Hands on experience in re-engineering methodology. Certified OMM, LEAN/Six Sigma preferred.

* Knowledge of publishing, information services and/or education services industries and their operations

* Experience leading major process reengineering initiatives

* Outstanding influence and communications skills, particularly with senior executives. Client centric mindset.

* High energy, self-starter, excellent team player

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Graduate degree preferred.
