Challenge Manufacturing Company is searching for experienced Weld Maintenance Electricians on all shifts to support Weld Operations at our Black River Stamping & Automation facility in Holland, MI. Our Weld Maintenance Electricians install, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems pertaining to welding systems. They also provide support for the manufacturing of quality products through maintenance and installation of electrical components and equipment.

  • Install, troubleshoot and repair machinery including:

    • PLC Controlled Machinery

    • Robotic

    • Welding

    • Pneumatic

    • Hydraulic

  • Operate a variety of equipment including:

    • Metering Devices

    • Hand Tools

    • Scissor Lift

    • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

    • Volt/Ohm Meter (VOM)

    • Diagnostic Computers

    • Conduit Benders

    • Threading Equipment

    • AMP Probe

    • Megger

    • Thermographics

    • Ultrasonic Analysis

  • Help develop specific maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair machinery

  • Proactively participate in continuous improvement efforts and drive process, tooling, and equipment enhancements that will improve production efficiency and product quality

  • Complete and manage work orders via the Plex system

  • Provide direction and coaching to less experienced team members, as well as mentor apprentices as requested

  • Additional functions, not specifically outlined in this position description, as directed by the maintenance supervisor

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong time management skills

  • Able to prioritize tasks

  • Ability to interpret and troubleshoot using mechanical and electrical prints

  • Ability to practice and follow Challenge?s safety policy and procedures

  • Ability to work as a contributing member within team environment

 Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required

  • Three years? work experience in the industrial electrical field required

  • Must have own tools (volt meter and basic hand tools required)

  • Completion of a formal Electrician Apprenticeship / Journeyman Electrician (preferred)

  • State recognized Electrician?s License (preferred)

  • Ability to obtain scissor lift license (issued through Challenge)

  • Ability to obtain forklift license (issued through Challenge)

  • Minimum five years of manufacturing experience strongly preferred
